From TV to Fashion Reality

Television is one of my greatest sources of fashion inspiration.  Outfits on TV  always give me that “little bit over the top, can’t see myself wearing all of that together at once but I like the idea” kind of feeling.  I love the fact that the world of television provides the opportunity to wear sparkly pencil skirts as a doctor or $300 dresses as an unemployed quirky girl.  And although this lack of reality can be frustrating at times for us “normal folk,” I find it best to embrace and take advantage of all this potential fashion stimulus.  Here is a roundup of some of the best TV fashion sources of inspiration:

1) Mindy Kaling in “The Mindy Project

Sure she’s a doctor, and yeah, those are at least 4 inch pumps, but c’mon, it doesn’t get much cuter than this.

2) Anna Sophia Robb in “The Carrie Diaries

This show is based in the 80s, and the outfits are about as 80s as you can get, but being based on Carrie Bradshaw’s life makes me definitely reconsider mixing leopard and polka dots.

Identity Crisis

3) Emily VanCamp in “Revenge

VanCamp plays a rich, Hamptons socialite who “makes a living” throwing charity events and avenging her father’s death.  I can’t think of any better justification for her designer wardrobe.

4) Nina Dobrev in “The Vampire Diaries

Sure, it’s totally normal for a High School Senior to wear a $1,500 dress to prom.  But she’s a badass vampire so we’ll let this one slide.

5) Zooey Deschanel in “New Girl

Wearing Kate Spade while unemployed, a girl can dream.
